The NHS has launched its flagship program, A Greener NHS, to tackle climate change and become the world’s first net carbon zero health service. Many NHS organizations, such as Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust and The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust, have implemented various climate sustainability initiatives.
Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust won the Green Surgery Challenge 2021 by promoting environmentally and socially sustainable practices. Sustainable Surgical Instrumentation is another critical component of the NHS’s overall sustainability objective. A recent AfPP survey found that 73% of respondents already use Reusable Surgical Instruments.
The NHS Supply Chain collaborates with suppliers to offer sustainable surgical instruments that can be recycled, reused, or repaired, reducing landfill waste.
